Frequently Asked Questions
How does the YB248 differ from the YM236 transfer cart?
The YB248 is longer (48" vs. 36") and uses smaller 5" casters vs. 6" on the YM236, with a lower 1,200 lb capacity vs. 1,800 lb. The YM236 is the heavier-duty option for larger loads. Both feature lips-down flush shelves and twin caster hole pattern mounts. Choose the YB248 for longer transfer surfaces with lighter loads, and the YM236 for heavier-duty applications.
What are the front leg "L" bumpers (LB option)?
The optional front leg "L" bumpers attach to the front legs of the cart to protect walls, doorframes, and equipment from impact during maneuvering — particularly useful in hospital corridors and tight spaces where the cart is frequently pushed through doorways.
Why are lips-down shelves used on transfer carts?
Lips-down creates a completely flush top surface, allowing items to be slid on and off from any direction without catching on a retention lip — ideal for transferring trays, sheet pans, equipment, or supplies between workstations or loading docks.
Can stainless caster rigs be specified?
The standard U500 casters use steel rigs. For full stainless compliance in sterile or corrosive environments, contact us to specify stainless rigs. The twin caster hole pattern on the mounts accommodates multiple caster configurations without modification.
