What is the difference between the SD-200 and the discontinued SD-100?
The SD-200 is the current-generation replacement for the Dymax SD-100. It is lighter, has a longer power cable (2 meters), improved reliability, and universal voltage (100–240 VAC) for worldwide use. The SD-200 retains the same core functionality — programmable timer, suck-back, footswitch activation — while adding improved build quality and a more compact footprint. If you previously used the SD-100, the SD-200 is a direct upgrade.
What fluids can the SD-200 dispense?
The SD-200 handles a wide viscosity range from water-thin fluids to thick pastes, including UV-cure adhesives and coatings, epoxies and potting compounds, cyanoacrylates, silicones and sealants, solder paste and flux, conformal coatings, lubricants, and thermal interface materials (TIMs). It is compatible with all standard Dymax UV adhesives and most third-party dispensing fluids.
How does the suck-back feature work and when is it needed?
After each dispense cycle, the suck-back function briefly reverses air pressure to retract fluid back into the tip, preventing drips between shots. This is especially important for low-viscosity fluids like UV adhesives and thin epoxies that would otherwise continue to flow after the dispense signal ends. The suck-back level is adjustable to match the fluid viscosity and tip size being used.
What syringe sizes and tip types are compatible with the SD-200?
The SD-200 includes adapter assemblies for 3cc, 5cc, and 30/55cc syringes and is also compatible with 10cc syringes. The included tip kits cover both high and low viscosity applications. Dymax free-flow taper tips (such as the T18-125-TT-50 and T20-125-TT-50) are sold separately and are recommended for UV-cure adhesive dispensing applications.
