ACL Staticide Dualmat Combination Kits: Everything You Need for ESD Workstation Protection in One Box

ACL Staticide DMP3072RB Royal Blue 30" x 72" Dualmat Kit MTESolutions

ACL Staticide Dualmat combination kits include every component required to set up a fully grounded, ANSI/ESD S20.20-compliant workstation in a single package: the Dualmat (dual-layer cross-linked rubber with dissipative top and conductive bottom), a common point ground cord, a wrist strap and coiled cord combo, ESD-safe mat cleaner, ESD-safe hand lotion, and a wipe sample. All components are pre-selected and matched by ACL Staticide’s engineering team, eliminating the spec-mismatch risk of sourcing each item separately. MTE Solutions carries all 16 configurations — four sizes and four colors — with special MTE pricing available through our direct supplier relationship with ACL Staticide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is cross-linked rubber better than vinyl for an ESD mat?
Cross-linked rubber is significantly more durable and chemically resistant than vinyl. In electronics assembly environments where IPA, flux removers, and other solvents are used daily, vinyl mats can swell, crack, or lose their dissipative surface properties over time. Cross-linked rubber maintains its physical integrity and surface resistance specification under repeated solvent exposure. It also lies flat without curling at the edges — a common problem with thinner vinyl mats that creates trip hazards and uneven grounding contact.

Why does the kit include hand lotion and why does it matter for ESD?
Wrist strap effectiveness depends on consistent skin-to-strap contact resistance. Dry skin has significantly higher resistance than moisturized skin — in some cases high enough to reduce the wrist strap’s ability to drain body charge within the ANSI/ESD S20.20 acceptable range. ACL’s ESD-safe hand lotion (7001S) is formulated to maintain skin conductivity without introducing ionic contamination or affecting surface resistivity on components or mats. Standard hand lotions are not ESD-safe and can leave insulative residues on components and work surfaces.

Can I use the Dualmat kit in a cleanroom environment?
The Dualmat is designed for electronics assembly and ESD-controlled environments, not ISO-classified cleanrooms. Cross-linked rubber mats can shed particles that violate cleanroom particle count limits. For environments that require both ESD control and ISO cleanroom compliance, contact our team for guidance on cleanroom-rated ESD mat options. For standard electronics assembly EPAs without cleanroom classification requirements, the Dualmat kit is a complete, compliant solution.

How do I verify the Dualmat kit meets ANSI/ESD S20.20 after setup?
After installation, test the mat surface resistance with a surface resistance meter (two-point and point-to-ground measurements per ESD TR53) and verify the wrist strap with a wrist strap tester before first use. Document the results as your baseline. Retest the mat quarterly and the wrist strap at the start of every shift. The included mat cleaner (6001S) is formulated to maintain surface resistivity after cleaning — using non-ESD-safe cleaners can alter the mat’s surface resistance and invalidate your compliance baseline.
