Permabond UV006480050T0101 UV648 UV-Curable Adhesive, 50ml Bottle, Case of 10

Permabond UV648 is a UV-curing adhesive developed for bonding plastics, with superb adhesion to acrylic and a long-wavelength photoinitiator that allows it to cure through UV-stabilized plastics — substrates that block the shorter UV wavelengths required by standard UV adhesives. UV648 also bonds glass, metals, and other materials, and cures to a colorless bond, making it ideal for applications where optical clarity and aesthetic appearance are essential. Compared to UV632, UV648 offers a higher viscosity formulation suited for vertical surfaces, gap filling, and applications where the adhesive must stay in place before UV cure is applied. The 50ml bottle is ideal for bench-level assembly and prototyping.

Sold in cases of 10 x 50ml bottles.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does UV648 differ from UV632?

UV648 and UV632 share the same core technology — both use a long-wavelength photoinitiator to cure through UV-stabilized plastics and both deliver a colorless, optically clear bond with superb acrylic adhesion. The key difference is viscosity: UV648 is a higher-viscosity formulation that stays in place on vertical surfaces and fills larger gaps without flowing, while UV632 is better suited for thin bond lines and horizontal applications. Choose UV648 when your application requires the UV-stabilized plastic curing capability of UV632 but with a thicker, non-sagging consistency.

What is a UV-stabilized plastic and why does it matter for UV adhesive selection?

UV-stabilized plastics contain additives that absorb or scatter UV light to prevent the plastic from yellowing or degrading under sunlight or UV exposure. These same additives block the UV light that standard UV adhesives need to cure. UV648’s long-wavelength photoinitiator is activated by longer UV wavelengths that can penetrate UV-stabilized substrates, enabling reliable cure even through UV-blocking materials.

Is UV648 suitable for optical and display applications?

Yes. UV648 cures to a colorless, optically clear bond with no yellowing, making it well suited for display cases, optical assemblies, acrylic signage, decorative glass and plastic, and any application where bond line visibility would be unacceptable. Its high viscosity is particularly useful for vertical glass or acrylic joints where a lower-viscosity adhesive would sag before cure.

What UV light source is required to cure UV648?

UV648 cures on exposure to UV light in the appropriate long-wavelength range. Cure time depends on UV intensity, wavelength, and bond line thickness. Consult the Technical Data Sheet for specific cure parameters for your application and substrate combination.
