MG Chemicals RTV106-300mL is a one-component, high-temperature red silicone sealant in a 300ml cartridge, designed for high-volume production use with a standard caulk gun. RTV106 is a Momentive Performance Materials formulation — a moisture-curing acetoxy silicone that cures to a tough, durable, resilient rubber at room temperature on exposure to atmospheric humidity. Rated for continuous use from -65°C to +260°C with intermittent resistance to +315°C, RTV106 is the standard choice for high-temperature electronics sealing, industrial gasket making, oven and exhaust system sealing, and sensor protection in demanding thermal environments.

For bench-top, repair, or low-volume use, see the 85ml tube (RTV106-85mL).

Key Features

  • High-temperature resistance — continuous use to +260°C, intermittent peaks to +315°C; maintains flexibility and adhesion across full temperature range
  • 300ml cartridge — production volume — designed for use with a standard caulk gun; ideal for higher-volume production sealing vs. the 85ml tube
  • One-part, no mixing required — moisture-cures at room temperature with ambient humidity; no heat or UV required
  • Non-sag paste consistency — can be applied to vertical and overhead surfaces where pourable sealants are not practical
  • Bonds without primer — self-adhesion to metals, glass, ceramics, and most plastics
  • Electrical insulation — suitable for electronics encapsulation, PCB sealing, and connector protection in high-heat environments
  • Chemical and weathering resistance — resists ozone, UV, oils, fuels, and many solvents

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RTV106-300mL in stock?
RTV products including RTV106-300mL are not stocked items. Please call MTE Solutions at 651-600-3838 for current pricing and lead times before ordering.

What is the maximum temperature RTV106 can handle?
RTV106 is rated for continuous use from -65°C to +260°C (-85°F to +500°F), with intermittent peak resistance up to +315°C. It maintains flexibility and adhesion across the full temperature range without cracking or delaminating.

What is the difference between the 300ml cartridge and the 85ml tube?
The formulation is identical. The 300ml cartridge (RTV106-300mL) is for higher-volume production applications using a standard caulk gun. The 85ml tube (RTV106-85mL) is better suited for bench-top repair, prototyping, and low-volume use where a smaller, handheld format is preferred.

Is RTV106 safe to use on electronics?
Yes, with one important caution: RTV106 uses acetoxy cure chemistry, which releases acetic acid (vinegar odor) during curing. This can corrode copper and copper alloys. Allow full cure before powering electronics, ensure adequate ventilation during application, and avoid direct contact with bare copper traces during the cure period. For copper-sensitive applications, consider a non-corrosive (oxime or alkoxy) cure silicone instead.

What is the maximum application thickness?
Because it uses a moisture cure system, RTV106 should not be applied in sections greater than 6mm (1/4 in.) thick. Moisture must penetrate from the surface to cure the full depth. For deeper sections, Momentive recommends using a one-component addition cure or two-component silicone compound instead.
