Frequently Asked Questions

What does "shuntable foam bottom" mean and why does it matter for PCBs?
A shuntable foam bottom means the static dissipative foam can electrically connect the leads of a PCB together when the board is placed in the tray, keeping all leads at the same electrical potential (equipotential). This prevents voltage differentials between leads that could cause ESD damage during storage or transport — even if a static event occurs on the outside of the tray.

What is the difference between impregnated corrugated material and coated or printed ESD trays?
Impregnated corrugated material has ESD-dissipative properties built throughout the entire material, not just on the surface. Coated or printed trays can lose their ESD properties if the surface is scratched, abraded, or worn. The 37751’s impregnated construction maintains consistent static dissipative performance throughout the tray’s service life, making it more durable and reliable for repeated use in production environments.

Can the 37751 Tek-Tray be used for Kanban systems?
Yes. The stackable/nestable design and standardized footprint make the 37751 well-suited for Kanban and lean manufacturing workflows. Trays stack when loaded for transport and nest when empty to minimize storage space. The reusable construction and 100% recycled material content also support sustainability goals in manufacturing operations.

Does the 37751 meet ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements for ESD packaging?
The 37751 is static dissipative with a surface resistance of 1 × 10⁶ to <1 × 10⁹ ohms per ANSI/ESD STM11.11, and is identified with the ESD Protective Symbol per ESD 8.1. It is designed for use in ESD-protected areas (EPAs) compliant with ANSI/ESD S20.20. For specific compliance documentation, refer to the Technical Data Sheet linked above.
