Permabond AA00050P001L0101, LH050 Pure Anaerobic Threadsealant, 1 Liter Bottle, Case of 10
Permabond AA00050P001L0101, LH050 Pure Anaerobic Threadsealant, 1 Liter Bottle, Case of 10
Permabond LH050 PURE is a single-component anaerobic threadsealant for metallic pipe joints, particularly steel and brass. Its smooth white paste fills the space between male and female threads and cures when confined against metal with oxygen excluded. It helps resist vibration loosening while allowing maintenance disassembly with normal tools. SKU AA00050P001L0101 contains ten 1 liter bottles.
Best Uses / Applications
- Threaded steel and brass pipes, plugs and fittings.
- Potable-water component projects evaluating the manufacturer's PURE-grade documentation.
- Qualified water, hydraulic-fluid, air, gas and chemical systems after compatibility testing.
- Pipe assemblies requiring directional freedom within a suitable threaded-joint design.
Key Features
- Room-temperature anaerobic cure with no solvents.
- Fills threaded joint spaces without tape shredding or tearing.
- Helps resist vibration loosening.
- Maintenance disassembly remains possible with normal tools.
- Maximum gap fill: 0.5 mm / 0.02 inch.
PURE Grade & Manufacturer Documentation
Permabond's LH050 PURE Global TDS Revision 4, dated June 26, 2017, states “NSF/ANSI 61 Certified - Drinking Water System Components.” Its thread-sealant selection guide also identifies LH050 PURE as the potable-water grade. These manufacturer statements are specific to PURE, not standard LH050. Obtain current listing conditions and application guidance before specifying; this page does not establish certification of a finished assembly or suitability for every drinking-water installation.
Technical Specifications
Typical guideline values from LH050 PURE TDS Revision 4, June 26, 2017, not an application specification.
| Property | Typical value / condition |
|---|---|
| SKU / grade | AA00050P001L0101 / LH050 PURE |
| Package | 1 liter bottles; case of 10 |
| Chemistry | Methacrylate esters |
| Appearance | White paste |
| Viscosity at 25°C | 250,000 mPa·s (cP) |
| Specific gravity | 1.1 |
| UV fluorescence | No |
| Maximum gap fill | 0.5 mm / 0.02 inch |
| Handling strength | 2 hours on M10 steel at 23°C |
| Full strength | 24 hours on M10 steel at 23°C |
| Breakaway / prevailing torque, ISO 10964 | 4 / 3 N·m on M10 steel |
| Compressive shear, ISO 10123 | 7 MPa / 1,000 psi on steel collar and pin |
| Thermal conductivity | 0.19 W/(m·K) |
| Minimum cured exposure temperature | −55°C / −65°F, substrate-dependent |
| Storage | 5–25°C / 41–77°F |
The thermal-expansion exponent was not reliably readable and is omitted. Copper and its alloys accelerate cure; oxidized or passivated surfaces such as stainless steel slow it. Lower temperature and larger gaps extend cure. Permabond A905, ASC10 or controlled heat can be considered with manufacturer guidance.
Seal Performance & Joint Design
The manufacturer describes immediate sealing and states that fully cured sealant typically exceeds the pipe's burst rating. These statements are not a universal assembly pressure rating or permission for immediate high-pressure service. Validate the actual threads, medium, temperature and cure. The 1,000 psi value in this PURE sheet's compressive-shear table is a mechanical strength result, not an immediate pipe-pressure rating. Directional freedom does not remove minimum thread-engagement or joint-design requirements.
Published Chemical-Resistance Tests
After 1,000-hour immersion, the TDS reports no leak at 60 psi for every condition below. These are test conditions, not universal service-pressure or temperature limits.
| Medium | Test temperature |
|---|---|
| 50% antifreeze / 50% water | 126°C / 260°F |
| Brake fluid | 150°C / 300°F |
| Differential lubricant | 150°C / 300°F |
| 5W/30 engine oil | 150°C / 300°F |
| Transmission fluid | 150°C / 300°F |
| Diesel fuel #2 | 25°C / 77°F |
| ASTM fuel C | 25°C / 77°F |
| Water / steam | 198°C / 390°F |
| Air | 150°C / 300°F |
Selection Comparison
| Grade / approach | Selection distinction |
|---|---|
| LH050 PURE | Manufacturer identifies this separate grade for potable-water applications; verify current documentation and use conditions. |
| Standard LH050 | General-purpose grade; do not transfer PURE documentation to it. |
| LM012 | Hydraulic-sealing grade in the manufacturer's guide; evaluate its own specifications. |
| Pipe tape | Does not cure into an adhered seal; readjustment can cause shredding according to the manufacturer's guide. |
Surface Preparation & Application
- Clean and dry threads; remove grease with a suitable solvent such as acetone or isopropanol after checking surrounding-material compatibility.
- Consider A905 or ASC10 for inactive surfaces under manufacturer guidance. Follow the activator's instructions; do not mix activator into sealant.
- Prevent the dispensing tip from touching metal.
- Apply to the leading 3–4 male threads, halfway around pipes up to 1½ inches in diameter. For larger pipes, apply completely around.
- Assemble and orient fittings within the approved joint design.
- Inspect for a bead around the entire circumference. If absent, repeat using more sealant.
- Allow sufficient cure for the actual metal, gap and temperature before service.
For threaded metallic joints only; not recommended for plastic components, oxygen, oxygen-rich systems or strong oxidizers. Some thermoplastics may be adversely affected. Follow the Safety Data Sheet and good industrial hygiene. For professional or industrial use only. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is LH050 PURE used for?
Sealing threaded metallic pipes, plugs and fittings, particularly steel and brass, in qualified applications.
How is PURE different from standard LH050?
It is a separate grade identified by Permabond for potable-water applications. Its documentation must not be applied to standard LH050.
What does the manufacturer say about NSF/ANSI 61?
The June 26, 2017 PURE TDS states NSF/ANSI 61 certification for drinking-water system components. Confirm current listing conditions before specification; this is not certification of your finished system.
How long does curing take?
Typical handling strength takes 2 hours and full strength 24 hours on M10 steel at 23°C. Other metals, temperatures and gaps can change these times.
Can I use it on plastic pipe?
No. The TDS specifies threaded metallic joints and does not recommend plastic components.
Does the 1,000 psi strength value rate my pipe system?
No. It is the compressive-shear test result expressed in psi, not an assembly pressure rating.
Can fittings be removed later?
The manufacturer states that maintenance disassembly remains possible with normal tools. Actual removal depends on the assembly and conditions.
Can it be used in oxygen systems?
No. Oxygen, oxygen-rich systems and strong oxidizers are excluded by the TDS.
How much should I apply?
Apply to the leading 3–4 male threads, halfway around pipes up to 1½ inches and completely around larger pipes. Check for a continuous bead after assembly.
What does this listing include?
SKU AA00050P001L0101 includes ten 1 liter bottles of LH050 PURE. Store at 5–25°C.
