The Ideal-tek M2A.SA.1.ITU is a mini tweezer with a fine, round, flat straight tip (M2A style) in stainless steel anti-magnetic (SA) construction with a sandblasted finish. At just 70mm (2.76 in) overall length and 6g, the short body provides a firmer grip and greater control for delicate applications requiring precise holding of flat components — SMD components, small PCB parts, optical elements, and fine assembly work. The anti-magnetic stainless steel construction prevents magnetization that could attract or disturb sensitive components. RoHS compliant. What is the M2A tip style used for?
The M2A tip is a fine, round, flat straight tip designed for holding flat components firmly without slipping. It is well suited for picking and placing SMD components, handling small PCB parts, optical assembly, and any precision task where a flat gripping surface is needed to secure a component without damaging it. The short 70mm body of the mini format provides a firmer, more controlled grip compared to standard-length tweezers, making it preferred for close-tolerance work under magnification.
What does anti-magnetic (SA) stainless steel mean?
Anti-magnetic stainless steel (Ideal-tek designation: SA) is a grade of stainless steel that does not become magnetized during normal use. Standard stainless steel can acquire a residual magnetic charge over time, which can attract ferromagnetic particles or disturb magnetically sensitive components. Anti-magnetic construction eliminates this risk, making the M2A-SA suitable for electronics assembly, watchmaking, and other applications where magnetization would be problematic.
Is this tweezer ESD safe?
No. The M2A.SA.1.ITU is not ESD safe. The stainless steel construction is conductive but not designed to dissipate static charge in a controlled manner per ESD standards. For ESD-sensitive component handling in an EPA, use Ideal-tek’s ESD-safe tweezer series instead. How does the mini format differ from standard Ideal-tek tweezers?
Ideal-tek mini tweezers (M-series) are shorter than standard tweezers — the M2A.SA.1.ITU is 70mm vs. 120–160mm for standard models. The shorter body provides a firmer grip and more precise control for close-tolerance work, particularly under a microscope or magnifier where a longer tweezer would be unwieldy. The tradeoff is less reach and leverage for tasks requiring access to deep or recessed areas.
