Frequently Asked Questions
What ISO cleanroom class are these masks rated for?
The HCE™ earloop masks are rated for ISO 5 (Clean Class 100) and higher cleanroom environments. With an APC of 200 counts/piece at ≥0.3µm, they meet the particle requirements for critical controlled environment use.
What is the difference between earloop and tie-style cleanroom masks?
Earloop masks are faster to don and remove, making them convenient for frequent entry/exit. Tie-style masks (see Hourglass HCE™ 3-Ply with Ties) provide a more secure, adjustable fit and an additional layer of filtration — preferred for longer wear or more critical contamination control requirements.
How do I select the right size?
The HCE™ earloop mask is available in Small (7"), Medium/Large (8"), and XL (9") to accommodate different face sizes. The size refers to the mask width — measure across your face from cheek to cheek to determine the best fit.
Why are these masks double bagged?
Double bagging allows the outer bag to be removed at the cleanroom entrance and the inner bag brought inside, minimizing particulate contamination introduced during dispensing — standard practice for ISO 5 cleanroom consumables.
