⚠️ Quality Hold Notice (Momentive RTV 100 Series): Per Momentive, the RTV 100 Series is currently on quality hold due to a failure on the Adhesion Peel Test. Momentive has communicated that not all end users require the Peel Test — the Lap Shear Test has produced passing results. If your application accepts product based on the Lap Shear Test, you must sign Momentive’s waiver form and a Batch Notification document will be supplied in place of a Certificate of Analysis. MOQ is 75 tubes until the issue is resolved. Contact MTE Solutions at 651-600-3838 for details.
MG Chemicals RTV102-300mL is a one-component, white silicone adhesive sealant in a 300ml cartridge for use with a standard caulk gun — designed for higher-volume production use vs. the 85ml tube. RTV102 is a Momentive Performance Materials formulation commonly used as a formed-in-place silicone gasket (FIPG) material and general-purpose sealing, caulking, insulating, and bonding compound. Cures to a tough, durable, resilient elastomer on exposure to atmospheric moisture at room temperature. FDA-compliant silicone. Acetoxy cure chemistry (releases acetic acid during cure).
For bench-top, repair, or low-volume use, see the 85ml tube (RTV102-85mL).

Key Features
- 300ml cartridge — production volume — designed for use with a standard caulk gun; reduces downtime from frequent tube changes in higher-volume gasketing and sealing operations
- FDA-compliant silicone — suitable for food-contact adjacent applications and food processing environments
- Formed-in-place gasket (FIPG) — primary use case; conforms to mating surfaces and cures in place to form a reliable custom silicone gasket
- One-part, no mixing required — moisture-cures at room temperature with ambient humidity
- Non-sag paste — applies to vertical and overhead surfaces where pourable sealants are not practical
- Primerless adhesion — bonds to most metals, plastics, and glass without primer
- Weatherability & chemical resistance — resists ozone, UV, and many chemicals
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Momentive quality hold and does it affect my order?
Momentive has placed the RTV 100 Series on quality hold due to a failure on their internal Adhesion Peel Test. The Lap Shear Test has produced passing results. If your application can accept product based on the Lap Shear Test, you can still order by signing Momentive’s waiver form — a Batch Notification document will be supplied instead of a Certificate of Analysis, and the MOQ is 75 tubes. Contact MTE Solutions at 651-600-3838 to discuss before ordering.
What is the difference between the 300ml cartridge and the 85ml tube?
The formulation is identical. The 300ml cartridge (RTV102-300mL) is for higher-volume production use with a standard caulk gun — better suited for continuous FIPG or sealing operations where the 85ml tube would need frequent replacement. The 85ml tube (RTV102-85mL) is better for low-volume, bench-top, or repair use.
Is RTV102 safe for use on electronics?
RTV102 uses acetoxy cure chemistry, which releases acetic acid (vinegar odor) during curing — corrosive to copper and copper alloys. Not recommended for direct application on bare copper PCB traces or copper-alloy contacts. For electronics-safe, copper-safe silicone, use MG Chemicals 1035 (neutral cure, non-corrosive) instead.
What is RTV102 most commonly used for?
Formed-in-place gasketing (FIPG) is the primary application — applied to mating flanges or enclosure surfaces and compressed to form a custom silicone gasket. Additional uses include general sealing, caulking, bonding, insulating, and white silicone caulk for gaps in industrial and food-adjacent environments.
What is the maximum application thickness?
RTV102 should not be applied in sections greater than 6mm (1/4 in.) due to its moisture cure system. For deeper sections, use a Momentive addition cure or two-component silicone instead.
