Frequently Asked Questions
What does "accelerator-free" mean and why does it matter?
Most nitrile gloves are manufactured using chemical accelerators (thiurams, carbamates, dithiocarbamates) to cure the rubber. These accelerators are the primary cause of Type IV allergic contact dermatitis in glove users. FreeStyle1100 uses Hourglass's LOW DERMA™ technology to produce nitrile without these accelerators, virtually eliminating the risk of Type IV reactions.
How does the FreeStyle1100 differ from the Hourglass HandPRO 8750?
The 8750 is an ISO 5-rated cleanroom glove (12", double-bagged, reinforced fingertip at 0.21mm) designed for controlled environment manufacturing. The FreeStyle1100 is an exam-grade glove (9.5") focused on accelerator-free chemistry and wet-grip performance for medical, pharmaceutical, and lab use. Choose the 8750 for cleanroom environments; choose the FreeStyle1100 for medical/lab settings where allergy risk and wet grip are priorities.
Is this glove suitable for wet environments?
Yes — the FreeStyle1100's unique nitrile compound actively sheds water, maintaining a secure grip even when hands or gloves are wet. This is a key differentiator from standard nitrile exam gloves, which can become slippery when wet.
How many gloves come per box and per case?
Most sizes: 100 gloves/box, 10 boxes/case (1,000 gloves/case). 2XL size: 80 gloves/box, 800 gloves/case. Priced per case.
Is the FreeStyle1100 latex-free?
Yes — FreeStyle1100 is not made with natural rubber latex, making it safe for individuals with Type I latex hypersensitivity. Combined with the accelerator-free formulation, it eliminates both the most common glove-related allergy types.
