Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Desco 15012 floor mat work without ESD footwear?
No. The CV280 conductive floor mat is one element of a flooring/footwear system. The path to ground is only complete when the operator is wearing ESD footwear (heel grounders, ESD shoes, or foot grounders) that makes electrical contact with the conductive floor surface. Standard footwear with insulating soles will not complete the ground path.
What is the difference between a conductive floor mat and a dissipative bench mat?
Conductive floor mats (like the CV280, Rtt <1×10⁶ Ω per ANSI/ESD S7.1) are designed to ground standing operators through ESD footwear — they need to remove charge quickly from a moving person. Dissipative bench mats (Rtt 1×10⁶ to <1×10⁹ Ω per ANSI/ESD S4.1) are used for bench worksurfaces in direct contact with ESD-sensitive devices, where a slower discharge rate is preferred to avoid damaging components.
Can the CV280 roll be cut to a custom length?
Yes. The 60-foot roll can be cut to any required floor zone length with standard utility or mat cutting tools. Cut edges do not affect ESD performance of the remaining material.
