SCS PCL1002024 Cleanroom Static Shielding Bags, 20 x 24 in, 100/Pack
SCS PCL1002024 Cleanroom Static Shielding Bags, 20 x 24 in, 100/Pack
SCS PCL1002024 PCL100 Clean Series bags combine metal-in static shielding with certified surface cleanliness for packaging ESD-sensitive electronics in cleanroom applications. Each 20 x 24 in open-top bag uses a 2.8 mil polyester/metal/polyethylene laminate, with dissipative inner and outer surfaces and an embossed ESD symbol and lot code for traceability. Supplied 100 bags per pack.
The PCL100 Series is certified to IEST-STD-CC1246E Level 100 for surface cleanliness. This is a surface-particulate cleanliness designation, not an ISO Class 5/Class 100 room-air classification or a statement that the bags are sterile. Select packaging against your facility's contamination-control and ESD requirements.
Key Features
- Cleanroom-focused packaging: designed for applications where bag surface particulates are a concern.
- Metal-in shielding laminate: polyester, metal and polyethylene construction helps protect sensitive contents from electrostatic fields and discharges.
- Discharge shielding below 10 nJ: tested per ANSI/ESD STM11.31.
- Dissipative surfaces: inner and outer surface resistance of 1 × 104 to less than 1 × 1011 ohms.
- Heat-sealable open top: close using an appropriate validated heat-sealing process.
- Embossed identification: ESD protective symbol and lot code support identification and traceability.
- Made in the USA: manufactured in Sanford, North Carolina.
Best Uses / Applications
For cleanroom component packaging, protected storage and transfer of ESD-sensitive electronic assemblies, and contamination-conscious semiconductor and electronics handling. The 20 x 24 in format suits larger items when sufficient clearance remains for insertion and closure. Confirm fit around the actual assembly, including protrusions, cushioning and sealing allowance; nominal bag dimensions are not usable component dimensions.

Packaging Comparison
| Packaging type | Primary selection reason | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| PCL100 Clean Series shielding bag | ESD shielding plus specified surface-particulate cleanliness | Certified IEST Level 100 surface cleanliness |
| General-purpose static shielding bag | Protection of ESD-sensitive contents | Do not assume a cleanroom surface-cleanliness certification unless explicitly specified |
| Moisture barrier bag | Packaging selected for moisture-barrier performance | This PCL100 listing does not specify a moisture-vapor transmission rating; do not substitute it for a qualified moisture barrier bag |
Heat Sealing and Handling
The series datasheet gives typical heat-sealing conditions of 300–375°F (149–190°C), 0.5–3.5 seconds and 30–70 psi (206–482 kPa). Validate settings on your equipment and application. Handle with appropriate cleanroom and ESD procedures, and avoid sharp edges or overfilling that could damage the laminate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does PCL1002024 belong in a cleanroom bags category?
Yes. SCS explicitly designs the PCL100 Clean Series for cleanroom applications where surface particulates are a concern, in addition to ESD protection.
Does Level 100 mean ISO Class 5 or a sterile bag?
No. IEST-STD-CC1246E Level 100 describes surface cleanliness. It is not a room-air classification or a sterility claim.
What size and quantity am I ordering?
PCL1002024 is nominally 20 x 24 in, supplied 100 bags per pack. Allow room for the item's thickness and your closure method.
Is this a zip-top bag?
No. This SKU is an open-top bag and is heat sealable.
What does metal-in mean?
The shielding metal layer is within a multilayer film structure. The polyester dielectric and metal layer work together to provide discharge shielding, while the surfaces are dissipative.
Can this replace a moisture barrier bag?
Do not select it as a moisture barrier substitute. No moisture-vapor transmission specification is provided here; use packaging rated for your moisture-sensitive device process.
How thick is the material?
The specified film thickness is 2.8 mil (approximately 0.071 mm), with a ±10% tolerance.
Where are these bags manufactured?
SCS identifies this item as made in Sanford, North Carolina, USA.
