What is the difference between a threadlocker and a retaining compound?
Threadlockers (LH150, HH131) are applied to threaded fasteners — bolts, screws, and studs — to prevent loosening from vibration, shock, or thermal cycling. They cure between the mating threads and also seal against corrosion and fluid leakage. Retaining compounds (HL138, HM161) are applied to close-fitting cylindrical assemblies — bearings, bushings, sleeves, and shafts pressed or slipped into housings — to increase the load-carrying capacity of the joint and prevent fretting corrosion. Both are anaerobic adhesives that cure in the absence of air when confined between metal surfaces, but they are formulated for different joint geometries and load types.

How do I choose between medium-strength (LH150) and high-strength (HH131) threadlockers?
Medium-strength threadlockers (LH150) are designed for fasteners that may need to be removed for service or adjustment — they can be disassembled with standard hand tools. Use medium-strength for assemblies with regular maintenance intervals, adjustable components, or any fastener that may need to be repositioned. High-strength threadlockers (HH131) are designed for permanent locking where disassembly is not intended — removal typically requires heat and impact tools. Use high-strength for critical fasteners in high-vibration, high-load, or high-temperature environments where loosening would cause failure.

What is a static mixing nozzle and why does it matter for the MT382 two-part epoxy?
A static mixing nozzle is a disposable tube with internal baffles that mixes the two components of a two-part adhesive as they are dispensed from the cartridge — no manual mixing is required. This ensures a consistent, accurate mix ratio with every shot, eliminating the variability and waste of manual mixing. For the MT382, the static nozzle also enables the self-leveling formulation to flow evenly across the bonding surface immediately after dispensing. Replace the static nozzle after each use session — cured adhesive in the nozzle will block the next dispense, but the adhesive in the cartridge remains usable with a fresh nozzle.

Are Permabond anaerobic adhesives suitable for non-metal substrates?
Anaerobic adhesives (LH150, HL138, HH131, HM161) cure specifically in the absence of air when confined between metal surfaces — they require metal ions to initiate cure. They will not cure reliably on non-metal substrates (plastics, composites, ceramics) without a primer or activator.
