Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 3-ply tie mask differ from the 2-ply earloop mask?
The 3-ply tie mask adds a meltblown polypropylene (MBPP) filtration layer between the two ES non-woven layers, providing enhanced particle filtration compared to the 2-ply earloop version. The tie-on straps also allow a more secure, adjustable fit around the head — preferred for longer wear periods or more critical contamination control requirements.

What is meltblown polypropylene and why does it matter?
Meltblown PP (MBPP) is a fine-fiber filtration layer produced by extruding molten polypropylene through tiny nozzles to create a dense, random fiber matrix. It is the key filtration layer in multi-ply face masks, providing significantly better particle capture than non-woven ES layers alone — the same technology used in N95 respirators.

What ISO cleanroom class are these masks rated for?
The HCE™ tie masks are rated for ISO 5 (Clean Class 100) and higher cleanroom environments, with an APC of 200 counts/piece at ≥0.3µm.

Why are these masks double bagged?
Double bagging allows the outer bag to be removed at the cleanroom entrance and the inner bag brought inside, minimizing particulate contamination introduced during dispensing — standard practice for ISO 5 cleanroom consumables.
