Berkshire SPX550.001.24, SatPax 550, Presaturated Polypropylene Meltblown Wiper, 70% IPA, 71% Saturation, 9" x 11", Case of 1,200
Berkshire SPX550.001.24, SatPax® 550, Presaturated Polypropylene Meltblown Wiper, 70% IPA / 30% DI Water, 71% Saturation, 9" x 11", Case of 1,200
The Berkshire SatPax® 550 is a presaturated cleanroom wiper built on a polypropylene meltblown nonwoven substrate — a 100% synthetic construction that offers excellent chemical resistance and very low extractables compared to cellulose-containing nonwoven substrates. The SPX550.001.24 is saturated with 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) / 30% deionized (DI) water at a 71% saturation level, meaning each wipe holds a higher fluid load than the lower-saturation SPX550.004.24 variant. The polypropylene meltblown construction is particularly appropriate for applications where cellulose fiber contamination is a concern or where a fully synthetic substrate is specified by the process SOP. The 9" x 11" format provides a larger wiping surface than the standard 9" x 9" format, reducing the number of passes required for larger surface areas.
MTE Solutions stocks the SPX550.001.24 in cases of 1,200 sheets (50 wipes per pack, 24 packs per case). Each wipe is individually sealed to maintain saturation level and prevent IPA evaporation. For the same substrate and IPA concentration at lower saturation (57%), see the SPX550.004.24. For the 7" x 11" bagged format in higher case quantity, see the SPX55000836.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between SPX550.001.24 and SPX550.004.24?
Both use the same polypropylene meltblown substrate and 70% IPA / 30% DI water solution. The .001.24 has a 71% saturation level — each wipe holds more fluid. The .004.24 has a 57% saturation level — each wipe holds less fluid and is lower cost per case. Choose the .001.24 when higher fluid delivery per wipe is required; choose the .004.24 when a drier wipe or lower cost is preferred.
Why choose a polypropylene meltblown substrate over a cellulose/polyester nonwoven?
Polypropylene meltblown substrates contain no cellulose fibers, which eliminates the risk of cellulose particle contamination in processes sensitive to organic fiber contamination. Polypropylene also has excellent chemical resistance and very low extractables, making it appropriate for processes with strict substrate purity requirements. The tradeoff is lower absorbency compared to cellulose-containing substrates.
What ISO cleanroom class is the SatPax 550 rated for?
The SPX550.001.24 is rated for ISO Class 5 through ISO Class 8 environments (equivalent to Federal Standard 209E Class 100 through Class 100,000).
How many wipes come in a case of SPX550.001.24?
Each case contains 1,200 wipes — 50 wipes per pack, 24 packs per case. Each wipe is individually sealed to maintain saturation level.
What does saturation level mean?
Saturation level refers to the ratio of fluid weight to dry wiper weight, expressed as a percentage. A 71% saturation level means the wipe holds approximately 71% of its dry weight in IPA solution. Higher saturation means more fluid delivered per wipe; lower saturation means a drier wipe that may be preferred for certain surface types or to reduce IPA consumption.
