Permabond AA000120250B0101, LM012 Anaerobic Threadsealant, 250ml Bottle, Case of 4
Permabond AA000120250B0101, LM012 Anaerobic Threadsealant, 250ml Bottle, Case of 4
Permabond LM012 is an unfilled, medium-viscosity anaerobic threadsealant for threaded metallic pipe joints, particularly sensitive hydraulic systems. Its unfilled resin is compatible with hydraulic fluids: the manufacturer states that excess material entering the system disperses in the fluid rather than introducing filler particles that could clog hydraulic screens or valves. Ordering code AA000120250B0101 is supplied as 250 ml bottles, case of 4.

Cure speed depends on metal, temperature, and gap. Copper and its alloys cure faster; oxidized or passivated surfaces, including stainless steel, cure more slowly. Low temperatures and larger gaps can extend cure time. Permabond A905, ASC10, or controlled heat may be considered with manufacturer guidance.

How to Choose an Anaerobic Threadsealant
Start with the pipe material, fluid, thread size, gap, operating conditions, and required approvals. Permabond's selection guide distinguishes hydraulic sealing from general-purpose and potable-water applications; these grades are not automatically interchangeable.
| Selection need | Grade identified in Permabond's guide | Buying consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Hydraulic sealing | LM012 | Unfilled resin intended for hydraulic systems; check the TDS limits against the fitting. |
| General-purpose pipe sealing | LH050 | Review its own TDS rather than assuming LM012 properties apply. |
| Potable-water applications | LH050 PURE | A separate selection category; confirm current application-specific documentation with the manufacturer. |
| Plastic pipe | Not an LM012 application | The manufacturer specifies metallic threaded joints and does not recommend LM012 for plastic components. |

Surface Preparation & Application
- Clean and dry the metal threads and remove grease. The TDS recommends a suitable solvent-based cleaner such as acetone or isopropanol; verify compatibility with surrounding materials.
- Do not let the bottle tip touch metal surfaces during application.
- Apply LM012 to the leading three or four male threads, halfway around the pipe.
- Screw the fittings together and orient as required within a suitable joint design.
- Check for a visible bead around the full circumference. If no continuous bead is visible, repeat the process using more sealant.
- Allow adequate cure before service. The 30-minute handling and 24-hour full-strength values apply to M10 steel at 23°C, not every hydraulic fitting or operating condition.
LM012 is designed for threaded metallic pipe joints, not plastic components. It is not recommended for oxygen, oxygen-rich systems, or other strong oxidizing materials. Some thermoplastics may be adversely affected. Follow the SDS and good industrial hygiene practices. For professional or industrial use only; keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes LM012 useful for hydraulic systems?
Its unfilled resin is compatible with hydraulic fluids. Permabond states that excess resin entering the system disperses in the fluid without adding filler particles that can clog screens and valves. Use controlled application and normal system-cleanliness procedures.
Can LM012 seal plastic pipe threads?
No. Permabond specifies threaded metallic pipe joints and does not recommend this product for plastic components.
What thread size and gap can it handle?
The TDS specifies a maximum M20 / ¾-inch thread size and 0.2 mm / 0.008-inch gap fill. Confirm the actual joint geometry and service conditions before choosing it.
How long should I allow for curing?
On M10 steel at 23°C, handling strength takes approximately 30 minutes and full strength takes 24 hours. Stainless steel, larger gaps, and lower temperatures can extend curing. Do not equate handling strength with readiness for full-pressure service.
Is 60 psi the maximum pressure rating?
No. The 60 psi values describe the TDS chemical-resistance test conditions. They do not establish a universal maximum operating pressure; qualify the completed joint for the intended system.
Can it be used in oxygen systems?
No. The TDS does not recommend LM012 for oxygen, oxygen-rich systems, or other strong oxidizers.
