What is the difference between polyimide tape and Kapton® tape?
Kapton® is DuPont’s brand name for their polyimide film — all Kapton® tape is polyimide tape, but not all polyimide tape uses DuPont Kapton® film. Both share the core properties of polyimide: high-temperature resistance (to 260°C/500°F), excellent dielectric strength, dimensional stability, and chemical resistance. 3M manufactures polyimide tapes using both Kapton® film and their own polyimide film constructions.
