Brady BMP61 Scan to Print — How It Works

Brady's Scan to Print feature lets operators scan an existing barcode — from a wire, panel, or component — and the BMP61 automatically generates and prints a matching identification label. This eliminates manual data entry errors and significantly speeds up labeling workflows in electrical panel building, wire marking, and asset tagging. The video below from Brady demonstrates the Scan to Print process on the BMP61:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Brady Scan to Print and how does it work on the BMP61?
Scan to Print is a Brady feature that allows the BMP61 to read an existing barcode via a connected scanner and automatically generate a matching label for printing. It eliminates manual data entry, reduces errors, and speeds up labeling in wire marking, panel building, and asset identification workflows.

What label types is the BMP61 compatible with?
The BMP61 prints on Brady label cartridges up to 2" wide, including wire/cable labels, terminal block labels, patch panel labels, and general identification labels. It uses the M61 series ribbon (M61-R6010 included) and accepts a wide range of Brady-compatible media cartridges.

How long does the BMP61 battery last?
The BMP61 runs on a rechargeable NiMH battery and can also operate on AC power via the included adapter/charger. Brady rates the printer at up to 750 labels per day, making it suitable for full-shift use in the field or on the shop floor.

Does the BMP61 connect to a computer?
Yes — the BMP61 includes a USB cord and driver CD for PC connectivity. It is also compatible with Brady Workstation software for designing and managing label templates. The Scan to Print feature can be used standalone without a PC connection.
